Visiting Nevada – Day One: Reno

Last Friday we had left our place for a road trip. We hadn’t done any serious traveling for a really long time. Leaving the house I was really sceptic about the trip. I wasn’t very thrilled about the vision of us being stuck for hours in the car with two small kids where one of them hates being in the car seat for longer than 30 minutes. Surprisingly enough the drive itself wasn’t that bad.

I have never been to Reno or Las Vegas but from what my husband had told me about those two places I kind of knew what to expect and I didn’t expect a lot.

First of all I had expected that most of our time we will spend in the hotel room dealing with cranky babies, but we didn’t. We’d stayed at Circus Circus. As we had figured it out later it wasn’t the best choice but at least there was plenty to do just inside and we didn’t have to drag the kids to different places looking for interesting things to do. Every hour or so there was a short show for kids. The first one we went to see was so loud I had thought our No. 2 will go deaf, so we left pretty quick.

We met in-laws for early dinner as they were on their own road trip (not for pleasure, though) passing through Nevada. We walked around the main street, took some pictures and enjoyed the refreshing evening breeze. It was a great day and our kids were awesome. They couldn’t behave any better considering the 5 hours in the car and scorching heat we had to deal with on the way up there and when we finally got there.

Short story and plenty of photos from that day in the slideshow below. Enjoy! 🙂

Tomorrow I’ll try to post second slideshow and a few words about the second day of our trip which was AWESOME!!! If we could I wouldn’t mind staying there forever, opening a small caffe restaurant for tourists, buying some horses and just enjoying my life… not sure if I would be able to survive the weather, though.

Live and Love...Out Loud

Dancing Baby and unknown bird…

Maybe I’ll start talking about my day in some order… Dancing baby was the last, and the unknown bird sometimes between.

Firs was my coffee and a muffin.

After that a huge headache came along. I’ve been trying to get rid of it, but it seems to be undefeateble! Seriously. Anyway lying with a wet cold cloth on my head I saw my husband waving at me and pointing at something outside our apartment… First I couldn’t see a thing! He was pointing, and pointing, and pointing… and darn… I didn’t see it! Maybe because my head was hurting so bad or maybe because it was hiding in plain sight… I don’t know. The only thing I was sure about was that VERY weird bird I was looking at. He was sitting on the fence but when I opend the front door he flew further away and sit on the roof. He wasn’t there for a long time. 2 minutes maybe, that’s it!

After that bird flew away I went to check on our kind of “domestic” birds. They still sit on eggs! It’s been a long time. I think those eggs are dead… I mean, I don’t want them to be dead I just think it can’t be taking them so long to hatch eggs. Right!?

My husband read that it takes up to 14 days for doves to hatch eggs. Our doves have been sitting here more than 2 weeks.

It had rained cats and dogs for the last week so I think those eggs got too wet and too cold… I’m just guessing. I don’t know anything about doves or any birds hatching eggs. I just wish something would finally happen. I haven’t been on the patio since they “moved in”. I’m getting crazy watching how every day there is more leafs and dirt and everything else out there, and I can’t CLEAN it!!!  (we don’t want to scare them, so we REALLY limited our patio activities). It was fun at the beginning but right now I’m getting impatient. Grrr….

But… look… how cute they look! 🙂

After that I unpacked a package from Poland. My mom sent me Polish kid’s books.

There is Brzechwa, and Tuwim, and Fredro… OMG! Those are the babies poems and rhymes I grew up with 🙂

Yeay for my mom!!!

For a really long time I’d been trying to videotape my daughter dancing, but everytime I would pointed my camera at her she stoped. Finally today, she wasn’t looking at me! OMG ! So funny!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

First of all I want to say  thank you to Ashley. She’s used one of my ideas as the next week’s Scavenger Hunt item.

This Sunday Hunt (that happened on Saturday) was kind of funny.

Let’s start:

1. Vanishing point

2. Square crop(s)

3. Under

4. Welcome to the Jungle

version A)

version B)

version C)

and finally last version – D)

A little explanation. As most of the parents know… with the kids there is almost always a mess. They play with stuff that they’re not suppose to; they find stuff that’s hidden deep, they prefer to play with newspapers, pots, bags, shoes, even if the house is drown with toys!!! That’s what our daughter do lately – digs for treasures in the kitchen… And when she finds something it looks kind of like this:

5. Calm

I had thought about using the picture below for the CALM item… Our daughter is standing all by herself. It’s been happening more often now. A few more weeks and she’ll be walking. That’s for sure!

But then… I thought about our doggy being so calm ALL THE TIME when Miss Standing By Herself For More Than 5 Seconds play with her… what means: she pulls on her ears, nose, tale, and everything else; she kicks her, and scratches her, and eats her food from her bowl and spills her water from her bucket; she sits in her crate and bother her all the time… even then… she is the walking example of CALM!  So the choice was kind of simple!

And a few more shots of our Growing So Fast Little One!

A few pages from her life…

Have a sit, grab a cup of coffee, or a tea… and meet my daughter… and her litte adventures! To go through all of those videos will take you a while so feel free to skip some, but the first one and the last one are worth to see from the begining to the end. I mean… watch them all. They are funny! And cute 🙂

I know it’s not a single picture but it’s just hard not to share it with others. New parents will know what I’m talking about. Watching our daugter doing all those little things; discovering a leafe, grass; watching like her creativity is growing from day to day… it just simply amazing.

This smilebox is my Happiness Project.

Simplicity in our daughter’s (and ours) every day life.

Opportunity to have my Coffee and after that my Tea(s) (two big cups) :- )

Now I pee like crazy… and it’s hard to focus… it seems like whenever I come back from the bathroom I’ve got to go back there again… LOL. But… you don’t want to read about that 😉

Hope you enjoyed watching our Little Explorer!!!

speaking about Smilebox.

Two of my last creations – no more videos, though 🙂
