Recollections of hiking in the mud

On the weekends we always try to go out and do something fun. It doesn’t work every single time… but we try. There are so many beautiful parks, and reservoirs around us that actually we have to try very hard not to find any interesting place to go out to ;)

Sometimes going out is a necessity for us… for me… . It keeps me healthy… Mentaly healthy.

So… the last time it had been raining we couldn’t go out for a few days. The “indoor time” reached my endurance limit… . The next minut it stopped raining we left the house. Not thinking I picked the place. We got there, and it occured to us that around us we have only hiking trials… and MUD… We drove there for about 30 minutes so it would be silly to just pack up and leave… Right?!

We walked for about 15 mitnutes and we got to this open space with an amazing view!

We spent there about 20 minutes and through the mud… we walked back to the truck.

On the road, driving back we saw a deer on the one side of the road. When she saw us, she jumped deeper to the woods and from a safe distance she stared at use… while snacking on the grass.

Despite the mud our trip was great, I would say! The weather was beautiful that day. The air was clear and it was great to walk around. I know that we would’ve spent more time over there but our Miss Getting Heavier was getting ants in her pants while in the babybjorn. My husband didn’t have his hiking boots ( I DID :) ) , and he was getting tired of carying that extra 30 pounds on him. Anyway it was great to get out of the house and to breath in that fresh air.

It happend more than a week ago, so today having that 80 F temperature outside I am not thinking about getting outside for a hiking… The furthest I’d like to go is to the swimming pool and back :)

Have a great day, everybody!

Rose Garden in Black and White, Pinkish, and Sepia :)

Visiting Guadalupe River Park and placed there Rose Garden. I took those about a week ago, but I didn’t have much time to process them…, and actually I didn’t have any idea how to process them. Finally yesterday I came up with one – to make them all in black&white or in sepia. It’s a kind of weird idea, because the garden explodes with colors right now, and those pictures are soo colorful and vibrant! Still, I wanted to make them black&white :) Little bit different from everybody’s expectations about Rose Garden.

So there we go:

Busy as a bee chasing ducks

Discovering new places is always fun. It’s even more fun when funny things happen while you’re there :) This time we visited Guadalupe River Park. While walking around I stopped at the river to take some pictures of the ducks and gees and one cute doggy chasing them while my family was resting in the shade.

He sure did have fun in there!

While that doggy kept chasing those gees and ducks, I was chasing a bee! Kinda busy one :)

After I was done with that bee, or rather after she was done with me… I got so excited about the grass… Look at it. How could you not be! It’s so awesome! It looked like Ocean of Grass. I couldn’t get over it! :)

Our next stopp was at Heritage Rose Garden… pictures to come… later!

have a great Friday.

A few horses and a cow

My last post of talking about (read: posting pictures of) Nola’s Iris Garden. Beautiful place in the most beautiful area! Not only that they have the broadest and biggest display of irises but they have cows and horses (and a few dogs). Just a perfect place for me to live someday with a bunch of different plants instead of irises ;)

Next posts will be about Rose Garden ;)

No, Seriously! :) Beautiful place in the middle of San Jose… but I’ll talk about it some other day.

and while walking around and looking for some interesting and funny names of those irises I have found a ladybug without dots… Crazy. I had never seen a ladybug without dots before. Had to snap a picture!!!

Meet my husband ;)

Taking a break from walking around.

Walking, pointing at everything, picking everything from the ground and of course tasting it! – our daughter had a blast over there!

And I need to say something else at the end. For the last month or so I wasn’t very good in taking pictures for myself. I’d done some shooting for friends but most of the time my camera was in my bag, deep in the closet. Picking it up once again just for fun, just for myself reminded me how I really, really like it. I like my camera! I like taking pictures! I like the way I talk through my camera …

… but I’ve learned something as well. I’ve learned that it’s ok to put it away for a while. Not forget, just give it a quiet time, give myself a quiet time.

It is ok!

Beautiful irises and their funny names

As I promised in yesterday’s post today will be all about irises and their names. Funny names.

IRIS from Greek means “rainbow“. Iris was a messenger-goddess who rode rainbows between heaven and earth to deliver messages from Olympus :) Interesting.

As I said yesterday, I’m not a big fan of those flowers. Maybe because they bloom only once a year and for not very long, but visiting Nola’s Iris Garden I found for myslef one veriety that I fell in love with:

Some of them if you know what they mean could be used as a letter/message to somebody. Like those three belowe.

It’s actually a pretty neat idea, I think!

Some of the sound like a movie or a song title :)

That would be it for today. Tomorrow more of the Nola’s Iris Garden, a few horses and a cow :)
