Are you germs friendly family?

We do not live dirty, nor do my kids walk dirty all day long. Our house is relatively clean. Still, I do like to expose my kids to some friendly filth and I let them eat from the floor.

To the day I got to United States I had never heard about 5 seconds rule. Neither my kids will ever hear about it 🙂

What about you?

Photo Art Friday on Thursday, and ALL my kids (minus No.4 – the husband)

I’ll try to make this post very short today.
Simply because No.1 just went down for her nap and I am able to become a couch potato for an hour or two.

Starting with my submission for Photo Art Friday:

because Bath-Time-Fun is not for kids ONLY

Following with some shots or my darlings who drive me crazy lately.

Finishing with No.3 (I call her My Special Needs Child  – the one with ADHD).
A few week ago she had a professional photo session with Black Newf Photography (click the link for some awesome shots).
This dog is a separate topic I am getting ready to write about (but not yet). I am waiting for the right mood to do so. Believe me or not, it is a hard topic for me to talk about. Not having two very young children but this dog is the main reason I get up at 6:30/7 am every morning. She is the cause of my weight going down. While those two are relatively good things the third one is not -she is the main reason of my new grey hair, a lot of them!

But I don’t want to go that road today…

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Dance and Play like nothing else matters

So far, I am very lucky when it comes to taking pictures of my kids.

Sometimes No.1 gets tired of it but for the most of the time she is VERY cooperative.

I just need to say: “smile!”

and if there is music playing, well… then I have the perfect situation:

 Photo Art Friday

I tried to make this picture more “vintage” for Photo Art Friday theme (vintage) but all the textures and things I’ve tried beyond this point looked awful.

Taking an advantage of one day without a headache, yesterday I went with the kids to the park and later that day I put together this cute movie (my new hobby – making movies)

Today, I’m back to normal, what means the headache is back and I feel like I want to shoot myself in the head to stop it!

Hope you all are feeling way better than I am!

warm hugs from my corner!

Photo Art Friday, Minimalism NOT and stuff

This is my attempt to this weeks theme for Photo Art Friday: “Minimalist”

minimalism

yes, it is a Facebook comment. One of many of the same or bigger length (longer length, should I say…hmm?).

It is not from my wall, it’s a shot of my husband’s computer screen. The discussions he gets into turn into an obsessive arguments for most of the time. They are mostly about gay rights, religion, gun control and Obama. When he sees an opportunity to get into an argument with somebody on his Facebook he takes the chance 9.5 times of 10… and then I have to listen all about it… even worse, he makes me read it!!! imagine!

So, there is NO minimalist here…

Changing topic.

If you remember my last week frustration with my computer… well… I got around it (not completely but at lest to the point where it is not driving me completely insane), and have been very busy with making short movies. They suck, but gosh I had so much fun making them.

They are just a few minutes long so feel free to watch them.

The first movie I made, it’s the one I was complaining about in last post. My husband says, he has never enjoyed “coffee” as much as while watching this movie 🙂

The second one, I think is better, but youtube converted it into a crazy looking movie.

The last one is from our time at the park from a few days ago. The quality is very bad because youtube changed something. After I uploaded it I got a message that they detected the movie might be to shaky (or something like that) and asked me if I want them to fix it. I clicked yes, and the outcome is horrible. So just in case, NEVER USE THIS OPTION ON YOUTUBE. 🙂

and just want to let you know, I have started putting together tutorial for taking self-portraits. I thought I will have it done by now but, as usual, life happened…, but in a good way.

I hope for more “life happened”s  like that, you know 🙂

So in this optimistic, not very minimalistic post, I wish you all happy Friday extended to happy Saturday and Sunday… 😉

A little bit of this and a little bit of that…

… so as my 365 Project came to an end I faced a decision what to do with this blog. Before this project there was a lot of cooking and baking in here but that won’t be the main topic here as I do not cook or bake like crazy anymore.
From now on it probably will be an every-day-life photography blog with a new recipe now and then, and as you will see in this post, self-portraits are going to appear as well.

mom photographer, self-portrait

I plan to participate in Photo Art Friday, that’s for sure. Digital art is not my niche but now when I’m not stressed about 365 Project I have more time to play with my pictures and exercise my imagination. This week theme, for example is: “entrance or exits“, and here is my attempt to it.

mom photographer, entrance

I know I was saying about preparing some kind of series of post with self-portraits tutoring but as for now I don’t know where to start from and what to consider as important. So as for now I’ll just keep taking them and meantime, free of the stress and pressure of having to take a self-portrait each day, I will write down some advice how to take self-portraits (with examples of an actual picture).

Good news from this week: I finally received my business cards. I am not very happy with them but they will do for now.

And I could not write a post without a few shots of my precious NOT angels:

mom photographer, sisters playing

Many of you know how I used to complain that our No.1 has no interest in playing or sharing with her younger sister. So these days they’re becoming more like partners in crime.

mom photographer, self-portrait, watching creativeLIVE

I’m trying to self-educate these days. Being honest with you: from the day I decided to go pro with the photography business (two months ago) I have learned way more then during the last few years. I do watch online workshops, read tremendous amount of posts about photographing kids and working with families, tips and hints, and I crochet more in order to have more props for newborn sessions.

Today I had spent my day watching creativeLIVE workshop “Lightroom Mastery with Ben Willmore”. Gosh… my brain is about to explode. This workshop is free if you watch it LIVE… so, all day today I had struggled to remember things and make some notes while handling the kids… Tomorrow is going to be the same, and on Saturday. ugh….

ok, last thing… sneak peek from my latest session:

365 Self-Portrait Project (week 39th)

What a normal week we’ve had.

One day at a time; that’s how I live these days.

It works.

365/267

For sometime now I’ve been thinking about putting up a post or a series of posts about self-portraits. I’ve received many emails as well as many comments asking questions about this project, about lenses I use, about camera I use, about places, time, if I use tripod, if I use remote, from where I get the courage to get in front of the camera each day, the ideas, etc.

I wrote and essay about this project for Bonbon Break, which will be publish on the 8th, and while writing it I just realized that sharing my story and my experience might be a help for many women out there, who are as afraid of being photographed as I used to be.  The essay for Bonbon Break is more like the one I wrote for World Moms Blog.

I’ve learned a lot since I started this project and it wouldn’t hurt if I share this knowledge.

So, I want to ask you, if you think it is a good idea to put together something like that. Would you want to read it? Would that interest you?!

I am not saying I would do it right away. First I need to finish this project in order to feel like I can teach/coach/guide somebody else.

365/268

On Saturday we went to a b-day party where in a quiet office-room I would breastfeed my Little One.

365/269

On Sunday I’d played with No. 2 who likes to be close to me. She is getting better in playing on her own but she is the happiest when I am near by, within her reach.

365/270

As our No.1 says: “you wanna play blocks?

Yes. I want to play blocks, my dear. Lets play and let your sister play, too. Ok?

She’s got some sharing issues lately, so we’ve been working on them.

by the way, No.2 is extremely aware of the camera. She is only 5 months old (ok, almost 6), and whenever she sees me with the camera she transforms into this smiley, lovely darlin who looks like an angel, like a “zen baby”, as my friend named her. It’s unbelievable.

That day I’ve tried to take a different photo but what I ended up with were those two. As my friend said: Big Ewa (yep, that’s my name) and Little Ewa. Does she really look like me?! I don’t see that.

365/272

It’s been ages since I write something in my journal. Actually after finishing my last one I just stopped writing a new one. With all the blogging and photographing and being a parent I just didn’t have the time for it, and I think, I just had lost interest in writing; the real writing, writing in Polish, writing the real thoughts, the raw thoughts without having to think about the audience. You know what I mean.

About two weeks ago I picked up one of my empty notebooks and started writing.

Those are not very happy words, but to write them down helps.

One of those shots: “Ok, let’s do it as quick as possible and be done for the day. Turn right, snap. Thank you very much!

I wish you all a wonderful day.

Enjoying our time before the big change

This is definitely my last post before the second baby arrival and probably my last post for a while.

This past weekend we enjoyed great weather and even with me feeling uncomfortable and tired we had spent some time playing together outdoors.

Saturday we spent our afternoon in the nearby park:

On Sunday we went to a great Farm Park, one of our favorite places to visit.

This mean creature was trying to find a way to bite me for the entire time I stand in front of her.

This one didn’t give a damn about anybody and anything. Oh, how jealous I felt looking at her:

Didn’t know what to think about this one:

That didn’t look comfortable but different things work for different creatures. right?:

We found some eggs, too! They weren’t painted and, I bet they didn’t taste like chocolate either.

Our daughter had the most fun!

Finally, yesterday I made a hat for our soon-to-be born:

If you interested in the pattern – it’s from here. Of course I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t change a few things in this pattern but that’s not important 😉

I have never crochet a hat before so this was a bit intimidating.

There is a few things I want to have done for her (read: crochet) before she gets here but I think I won’t make it… Still, there will be plenty of time in the hospital so I am not so worried. I just want to have a few cute things for her newborn pictures. Though, I have no idea if I’ll be up to doing it when I get back. I hope I will.

Till then, my friends!

A piece of everyday life

We start our day from, what dad would say, buziaks.

In Polish “buziak” means “kiss” but we do not add “s” at the end of plural nouns. So “buziaks” is not plural for “kisses”… but it’s always funny to hear my husband speaking Polish and trying to figure it out. He has blast listening to my English, so from time to time is good for the situation to switch places.

So, yes… there is many buziaks every morning and through the entire day.

kimklassencafeScattered Horizons

These days, after we have our breakfast there is a time to drink juice from a cup, just like a big girl. In meantime I try to tie her hair in pony tail so she will get used to to wearing it. It’s not as easy as it may sound. She wears it for 10 minutes and that’s it. She’s done for the day.

After the juice-time there is a morning dancing-time:

In between, and believe me, dancing always lasts much longer that 1 minute, she “reads”. She picks a book, she gives me one, she takes two. She reads hers and I have to read what she gives me. Most of the time the books she brings to me come from my book shelf… so at the end I find myself reading to her George Orwell in Polish.

Later, there is time to make a call. Dad’s on the phone all day, and she likes to imitate every single thing we do these days.

Almost always there is something cooking in the kitchen.

And  before we all go to bed there is a time to play. These days her favorite activity is to wear a bucket over her head while trying to run over our dog. Quick peek if she is on the right path and the chase keeps going.

That’s an example of one of our lazy and ordinary day. There is much more going on sometimes and my camera is  not always with us.

The Perfect Day

I call it The Perfect Sunday.

Perfect because I got the chance to drink a coffee. As a coffee lover I really miss my morning coffee. With my first pregnancy it was really easy to quit drinking it. It just came naturally. One day I could not finish my morning coffee. It tasted bad and smelled awful. My body said: “No, you are not going to drink it”, and I didn’t. For the entire pregnancy and for few months more after Little Stinker was born.

This time is different. I had a few days when I couldn’t drink it, but with my 1st trimester that feeling disappeared and there is nothing that keeps me away from coffee these days. There is one thing I do.

I do not buy coffee so I don’t have it at the house. My last package of coffee ended up a few weeks ago. Since then I had only one cup a few days ago… and one more yesterday.

About a week ago we watched the movie “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. I just went through that movie to find one moment where I see myself.lol

Don’t remember her name but there is a woman who’s on the “drinking fresh juices only” diet and she’s doing her shopping and it happens she passes by a shelf filled with coffee. It’s 40th minute in the movie. So funny!

Link to this movie here or you can watch it’s on Netflix.

Anyway, yesterday we walked to the nearest Starbucks and everybody got something. Day was beautiful. Fall in its fullest. Husband got his hot chocolate and newspaper. Little Snow(wo)man ate her cheerios. I got my black coffee. Even doggy got lucky and could clean up leftovers our daughter left under her chair.

Today coffee is just a beautiful memory which scent I can still smell around me 😉 …

… and I am left with frozen berries smoothie and a cup of green tea.

Of course, I had to share my smoothie,

because no food will go unnoticed when she is around 🙂

Oh well.

Few more months… . Just a few more months… .

Bath time

Ok, Ok, Ok… I know I shouldn’t be HOLDING MY CAMERA in tha bath tube, together with a splashing evrywhere baby! But I was, and it turned out that only my strap got a little wet… The camera made it safe and sound through the “in the bathtube” session :-), and I ended up with some good shots!

And maybe this pictures don’t look very peaceful… but yes… bathtube is the most peaceful place for me. A few candles, bubble bath, closed door, silence! My favorite little person, and my favorite place… Linking up with paper mama.
