Linking up with Ashley for Shot end Edit – Flowers

I thought I won’t be able to do that this week, but oh well. In last moment I changed my mind! This is what I came up with. btw, I think that the first and the second edit is overdone. what do you think!?

For those who want to try this effect out go here:

Pile’s Photos Scrip

It’s a free script/action for GIMP

Fix-It Friday

So, I was about to go and make myself some lunch but I saw this challenge @ I Heart Faces.

They posted a picture of that little beautiful girl (I bet she would have killed me if she knew I called her “little”).

Anyway they posted this picture:

and readers have to edit it. So I made myself a green tea with a grapefruit juice and while enjoying it I created this:

My idea was to make that picture to look something more like Alice from Wonderland…

I added two layers:

After that I flettened the image and used LOMO(vintage) script (action). For Photoshop users… I use GIMP to edit my photos. Some names are different but the effects are the same as some of the photoshop’s actions you can buy or download for free. In GIMP they’re called scripts.

Anyway, to finish the picture I used Dodge/Burn Tool on the area around the girl… and… that’s it!

For more interesting edits go here.

Have a great Friday. It’s raining cats and dogs in here… Grrr…

Lots of me to bake delicious peanut butter cookies

I’m not sure how it started, but I did it…

– Self portrait of me in action…

Everyday action…

Baking cookies…

I think I prefere baking over cooking.

The Daily Wyatt

… sometimes I feel that it would be so great to have a few more me to do everything at once and have some extra time for …hmm… for actually nothing… just ME time, or maybe reading book time… Wouldn’t that be awesome!!!

And that’s what I was making:

and the recipe if you interested to try:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (if you use salted butter than skip the salt I’m talking about later)

3/4 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy, doesn’t matter)

1/3 cup light brown sugar

1/3 cup granulated white sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 tablespoons milk

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt (if you used salted butter, skip this)

1/3 cup granulated white sugar

Oryginall recipe call for unwrapped milk chocolate Kisses – I changed it for

Strawberry preserve

The oryginal recipe I’ve got calls for parchment papare on your baking sheets. I didn’t use it, and those cookies where just fine withouth.

In the bowl beat the butter. Add the peanutt butter and sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat to combine. Beat in the milk. In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the peanut butter mixture and beat until incorporated. Cover and chill the batter for about an hour, or until firm enough to roll into balls.

I skiped the waiting time, and the dough was perfectly fine to roll balls from it.

Roll the batter into 1 inch balls. Roll each ball into the sugar placed earlier in the shallow bowl or on the plate.

Placed the balls on the baking sheets. With your finger make a small hole inside each ball. With a spoon drop inside a small amount of the strawberry preserve.

Bake the cookies in 375 F for about 8 – 10 minutes or until the cookies are lightly browned.

If you want to use the milk chocolte Kisses instead of the preserve, just make a very small hole inside each ball, and bake it that way. Immidiately after removing the cookies from the oven, place a chocolate Kisses in the hole in the center.

Cool completely in a wire rack.

I made 35 cookies from this recipe. Very yummy cookies. πŸ™‚

They are not very sweet, and the peanut butter flavor is not overpowering what I really like about this cookies. I made a few without the preserve inside (and without the kisses), just round balls… and my husband likes it better. I like it with the preserve MUCH better πŸ™‚

ah… and I would have forgotten. Today is:

This was my oryginal shoot

and this is my edit which I’m not happy with 😦

But I just don’t have the time to play with it more.

WOW!!! *.gif

Two post in one day!?!?! Oh well… Don’s want to mix too many challenges with no related pictures in one post…

So first I want to link up with Ahsley with my antsy pictures:

This is my straight from the camera shot of an ant. Last Monday I used it to link up wih Jill.

My two edits for Ashley. Couldn’t decide which one is better.

I didn’t edit it the way Ashley is taking about in her post… I do not use Photoshop, or Picassa, or Picnic… from time to time I use Lightroom (it means almost NEVER).

To resize and to sharpen my pictures in GIMP I simply use the “scale picture” and “sharpness” options separately. I don’t know if I can do it all together like some of you can do it in Photoshop.

Looking at both of the edited pictures I think that the best on is the not edited one!!!

… AND…

I’d like to say “THANK YOU” to Rachel for the award she gave me!!! And today I’ll link up with her, too. This time showing off my way of creating a gif file. So:

Resize you pictures (they shouldn’t be big).

800 x 600 or smaller is perfect.

Edit you pictures the way you like. Edit them separately.

Open them in your editing software… Every single picture as a single layer. First picture as a first layer. Second picture as a second layer, third picture as a third layer, and so on… You can use as many pictures as you want. I used 21 to create this one: Remote control

Than go to FILTERS -> Animation -> Playback

You will see your pictures moving as a one short movie… It’s awesome! I think I’ve found a new addition. Creating GIFs. To see the effect click on the picture below.

and then, she {snapped}

Click it Up a Notch

Go to “save as” click on the box where normally you see “all files”. At the picture below you will see “GIF image (*.gif)”, and this is how you should save your work as… The extension has to be:

click “save”.

in GIMP it will ask me if I want to flatten image or save it as an animation. Of course I want to save it as animation. Silly GIMP :-).

The next step is to specify the delay between frames. The higher the number the slower the gif.

click “save”… AND YOU’RE DONE!!!

I met a dog today…

Little (I mean: small), loooong, black and white, sometimes loud but most of all… veeeery cute!Β  I took many pictures of him, because it was hard not to.

When I saw him I just couldn’t resist. I had take my camera out and snap some pictures. He didn’t like the camera, though… but a few doggy treats did the job… as you can see πŸ™‚

and I wasn’t sure which one to use for this post because I really like both…

Most of my pictures of him came up really dark; too dark. I had to “hire” my beloved GIMP, as always irreplaceable πŸ˜‰

Linkin up with Touch Up Tuesday:

Touch Up Tuesday's at the Paper Mama

BEFORE the edit

Adjusted color levels and…

… and added LOMO “script” (for photshop users “action”)

And there he is.

Isn’t he cute !?!?!

But the best is yet to come!

At the end

he gave me

hugs from my corner, everybody!

Broken me and california giant strawberries

So, I’ll start with the broken reflected self-portrait.

And that’s exacty how I feel for the last few days. My head is killing me. I feel like I’m made from glass, broken and there is only a cardboard on the back of it keeping it all stick together. Sometimes I feel like I’m getting paralyzed by those headaches… From the top of my head to the tips of my fingers… It’s an aweful feeling!

… but despite my headache I’m really happy to see a photo challenge calling for “reflections” πŸ™‚ LOVE LOVE LOVE pictures of reflections!

and then, she {snapped}

… and finally I’ve started to use more options while editing pictures. Before I’d had my routine: changing brightness, contrast, color balance, adding some softglow, sharpens, working on layers from now and then…

A few weeks ago I’ve dicovered the world of textures… Two days ago… I started to use the “CURVES” option more often πŸ™‚ Actually it’s pretty cool and very helpful if you want to make LOMO or VINTAGE-like pictures… I downloaded an action (in GIMP it’s called a script) that can do it with one click… but while using the “curves” option I feel like I have more control, and I see the progress of this effect step by step.

For a Macro Friday I took some yummy pictures of our strawberry/ies.

One is ready to be picked (the strawberry, not the picture :-P), but we don’t know who should do it… I say, it’s my husband’s plant so he should do it. He says that I should do it… Today I know why he wants me to do it instead of him. He doesn’t know HOW TO PICK A STRAWBERRY. ROFL

Could you imagine! That’s so funny! That’s why he doesn’t want to do that! I mean not because it’s funny but because he doesn’t know how! πŸ˜‰

So here it is! So called California’s Giant Strawberry! Does it look like a GIANT strawberry !?! I bet it taste like GIANT strawberry would taste… πŸ˜‰

I’m afraid to taste it because the hit from it might be GIGANTIC… Too powerful for a little woman like me!

We’ve got two more… still green… but looking very promising… not gigantic though πŸ˜›

I remember when I was a kid I used to eat those green strawberries. Not quite riped but not totally green and hard… Those are the best! Sooo tasty!!! I’m weird… I know!

Morning ritual and a quick self-taught lesson

Meet the early morning me and my ritual.

After the bottle is made, shaked, and shoveled to my Little Miss “I get up at 7 am!!!” mouth, it’s MY TIME for the World to start spinning… . It hasn’t been that bad lately with those early and fast coming mornings… I don’t know what had happend BUT my lovely husband has been getting up with our Little Miss before me so I can sleep longer. Isn’t that cool!?! πŸ™‚

But today’s my day to get up earlier. Why not. Once a week isn’t that a big of a deal… ;-P

And today while drinking my coffee I’ve taught myself how to make animated gif’s in GIMP

Sorry for being such a tired woman on this picture… Slept only 4 or maybe 5 hours, and very restless…

And Finally I got the chance to take some pictures for Scavenger Hunt Sunday… (btw, LOVE LOVE LOVE Ashley “Blurred” photo)

So today I was able to take the entire set for today’s challenge! Yey! Here they are:

1. SKY

Unknown Mami

3. FURRY (my furry socks)

4. LIFE (a new life actually – growing some herbs, inside toilet paper rolls)

5. BLURRED (ok, this picture was taken yesterday, but totally match here)

Ok, time to take a shower and off we go to the park πŸ™‚

Have a great Sunday everybody!

hugs from my corner!

A few of my favourite things to photograph

it feels like it’s been ages since I took a diagonal picture – my favourite perspective, and of my favourite thing – reflection. So there they are:

I’ve been kind of distracted by all those photo challenges I’ve discovered lately… and trying to keep up with some of them I kind of stepped away from reflections… and I don’t know why, but from diagonals, too. Maybe because I’ve heard many, many people saying that they don’t like diagonals; diagonals are weird, etc. I love diagonals. For me it’s been very natural way of holding the camera, and taking a picture… I hadn’t thought about that until a few people pointed it out to me. Oh well.

I don’t think this one below is very good, but it will do for now.

This is my favourite little person to photograph. When you see that smile it’s no wonder why she is my favorite πŸ™‚

One more, but this time for one of today’s photo challenges:

I’d heard about textures so many times in the past… and I was looking at people’s pictures thinking, “WOW! I would love to be able to do that someday!” I thought that working with textures is some kind of black magic, wicca, voo doo, or something that I will never have the patience to learn about…, Β that it requires special magic software and skills and maybe a 6th sense… And someday it just happend… Just like that… It was really magical, maybe it really has something to do with magic afterall… lol…
I didn’t know that it is so easy!!! I mean I’m not an expert… and I’m far from being able to make a picture to look fantastic with some kind of breathtaking texture… but if you are reading it… and thinking the same about textures that I was before… please stop… it’s amazingly easy… really… πŸ˜› It became one of my favourite ways of editing my pictures. Though I don’t want to become very monotonous with only one way of editing…

and that’s how the picture look without editing:

SOOC Saturday

Maybe because of one of my friends, Arline who’s been taking AMAZING photos of birds, and because of my jealousy about that… I like to take a picture of a bird now and then… I’m not anywhere near where she is with her skills and equipment… but… oh well… we can’t have everything… right πŸ˜‰

btw, yes… this is picture from today… and yes… you are looking at a humming bird πŸ™‚

Of course flowers are on my list of favourite things to photograph… but who doesn’t like photograph flowers!?!

and some of today’s challenges call for some flowers, too:

Macro Flowers Saturday badge 3

being honest with you I like to take pictures of almost anything… I’ve even been studying self-portraits photography… because that’s the less favorite thing to take pictures of for me! will see how that works πŸ˜‰

Friday full of free time and blog hops…

… and warm warm warm teas. yeay!

Today is a very… very… lazy day… I even had the time to think and to take some pictures for allΒ  of today’s photo challenges πŸ™‚

So, the first one is from Live Every Moment. Today’s topic is BLUE. I almost never participate in some of the blog hops that post an additional theme every week, because it’s too much work to keep with all of it. Most of the time I don’t have the time to think about it… and then look for the right object to photograph… Today’s different. Don’t know why, actually. Using the same photo I’m linking up with:

This week topic is : β€œHead, Shoulders, Knees & Toes…Anything But A Face!”

Our daughter’s been climbing on everything lately, and falling down even more often… If she doesn’t fall she simply can’t go down on her own and she cries (ok I have to admit – she’s getting better and better at going down on her own).

Anyway, no matter what, she cries more often these days, and at the same time… she is terribly cute… and cuter… and OMG… she is so cute I can’t stand it sometimes… πŸ˜›

So… this is my lovely blue butt up πŸ™‚

And I’m using the same photo for:

and then, she {snapped}

because this is the one I edited the most. I worked on layers… I used a GREYCstoration option on the background layer (the first one) and I overlayed the second layer (not edited) over the background. Then I used LOMO action on the second layer and at the end added some texture.

I LOVE my new actions I downloaded yesterday… Oh… and don’t forget… I work on GIMP.

The second picture is for:

hosted by Laura Blogging from Bolivia.

This one is for:

Today’s topic is SHADOWS.

and my last one is for

Hope you all had a great Friday…

Hugs from my corner.

Can you clap?!

3 precious pictures

to make one even more precious

and today I downloaded a few free actions, plug-ins, scripts (whatever you call them) for my beloved GIMP. It didn’t happen without the pain, and frustration, and darn this and damn that (and much more those bad words that good people don’t want to read, but I want to write sooo bad here :-P, but ok I won’t).

This one is called National Geographic, and I love it!!!

Give me your best shot at Better in BulkPhotoStory FridayHosted by Cecily and Lolli

I know I promised to post a picture of barszcz… but I even didn’t eat it today (wait… Have I eaten today at all?)

I was too busy figuring out those plug-ins, scripts-fu, blah blah blah…

and we measured and weighted our Miss “I can almost walk by myself and if you hold me I walk like a stork”.

almost 30 inches

almost 22 pounds

She is growing so fast. I was looking at her pictures right after we came home from the hospital almost 10 months ago…
