365 Self-Portrait Project (week 21st)

This past week happened to be very exhausting. I think one of the most exhausting since No 2 came along. It’s actually funny because she slept through the night 3 times (including last night) so I don’t know why I feel like crap all the time. She is a “high maintenance” baby, as we call her. If she doesn’t sleep she needs our constant attention. My husband experienced it yesterday as I took a small break from the kids. Nap and a shower. Later he admitted he is tired of trying to entertain her.

“I know how you feel, dear. I feel like that almost 24/7”, I thought 😉

and this is how high maintenance baby looks like these days:

On Saturday we had in-laws taking care of the kids for a few hours. I finally had a chance to get on my husband’s motorcycle and enjoy the ride like in those good old days before kids 😉

We went for ice cream and to Winchester Mystery House. Very cool place but we didn’t get through the entire tour. sometime in the middle of it we got a call from in-laws: “PLEASE COME HOME”.

Did I mention that we have a high maintenance baby?! 😉

Those are the only few pictures I took that day. Wasn’t very happy how our day turned out but at least I ate my ice cream in peace.

On Monday we visited Golden Gate National Cemetery…  (more pictures from that trip here).

This portrait is everything you don’t want to have on a family picture:

One baby totally covered. The other one screaming and kicking the heck out of me. Mom and dad laughing while on the background a thousands of graves of people who died fighting for this country during a stupid war. At least people that were watching us had fun… .

I love Lightroom. It makes me look so pretty. These days I especially love one preset called “It was only a dream”. You can download it for free from here.

Just sitting with my girls. Trying to get some rest for my sore arms while No 2 is not screaming and wanting to be held.

I am a breastfeeding mamma, I think you know it by now, and I will stand up to support those who fight for the right to breastfeed in public. If that happens to me (feeding in public) I am always covered because I want to be left alone and not having fight with people over it. Even covered, though, I receive “the look” from time to time and it makes my really angry. That’s why I am very happy seeing a women like those two (different article here and fb picture with many supportive and NOT comments) fighting not only for their country but within it for their own personal rights!

In uniform or not… I think breastfeeding is a fundamental right and it shouldn’t be such a taboo… .

Oh but the baby is just soooooo adorable! Looks like she would easily gather attention! Makes you just want to start talking in soft silly voices to get her to laugh and smile. Precious.

oh.. she is a cutie… 🙂 I think Nature made newborns so cute and beautiful so mothers wouldn’t eat them (or abandon) at some point. Not that I want to eat my baby… 😉 but you know… sometimes you just can’t stand it anymore. Especially with such a young kids.

You are lovely, your children are lovely, your images are gorgeous. I am not concerned with proper English or getting things “right”… or I tell myself that. My first was high maintenance… and probably still is… but that is her husbands problem now ( I say with GREAT love), That gorgeous son of mine was a bit easier – but my husband said he did not think so.

You are in that whirling place right now- children do that to you… and don’t let anyone pretend differently. You are amazing and you will get your life back. Promise. So VERY nice to meet you. Now get off the computer and breathe. 🙂

Love the one of baby with bokeh and the photo of you playing with reflections. I breast-fed all three of my children – one until she was almost two. (I attribute their high I.Q.s to breast-feeding! 🙂 Thank you for sharing your documentary art with Photo Art Friday.

🙂 Breastfeeding is great, but I totally understand when woman decides she doesn’t want or when she simply can’t.
With #2, theses days, breastfeeding is a real pain for me. She is not very good at eating and most of the time we fight for a while before she gives up and eat. It’s exhausting.. but I keep doing it hoping she’ll get better.

Oh boy, I remember those days. I had an infant and a toddler (they are 11 months apart). My husband just left for a tour in Vietnam – I don’t know how I did it, but I did and you will too!

Love that head of hair on that baby! Hair on little babies is the cutest thing. perhaps because both mine had such fair thin hair that its very novel to me to see such brown locks on a little one.

both my kids were REALLY hairy when they were born. No 1 had lighter color than No2 so you couldn’t say she was THAT hairy… but she really was. This little stinker came out with so much hair she looked like she is already a toddler 😉

Your photos always look so calm and peaceful, and then you’re like, “Yeah, this one was a nightmare to take.” or “I was too busy to really bother so this was the only shot I got all day.” Yet, they always look so artistic and well-thought out! You are a true artist and I am always amazed by the creativity and calm in your self portraits.

believe me, Jennifer, sometimes it really is a pain in butt to do it but I am committed to finish it no matter what. I think I just chose not the best year to do it… too busy. sometimes it’s hard to think about it when there is so many things going on around me. this week for example is a nightmare. pretty soon I’ll be posting pictures of my single fingers and toes for each day because I am too tired to think about something more creative 😉

Single fingers and toes sounds very clever! 🙂
And it’s okay if you don’t smile in all of them. I think that makes them very real.
