Recollections of hiking in the mud

On the weekends we always try to go out and do something fun. It doesn’t work every single time… but we try. There are so many beautiful parks, and reservoirs around us that actually we have to try very hard not to find any interesting place to go out to ;)

Sometimes going out is a necessity for us… for me… . It keeps me healthy… Mentaly healthy.

So… the last time it had been raining we couldn’t go out for a few days. The “indoor time” reached my endurance limit… . The next minut it stopped raining we left the house. Not thinking I picked the place. We got there, and it occured to us that around us we have only hiking trials… and MUD… We drove there for about 30 minutes so it would be silly to just pack up and leave… Right?!

We walked for about 15 mitnutes and we got to this open space with an amazing view!

We spent there about 20 minutes and through the mud… we walked back to the truck.

On the road, driving back we saw a deer on the one side of the road. When she saw us, she jumped deeper to the woods and from a safe distance she stared at use… while snacking on the grass.

Despite the mud our trip was great, I would say! The weather was beautiful that day. The air was clear and it was great to walk around. I know that we would’ve spent more time over there but our Miss Getting Heavier was getting ants in her pants while in the babybjorn. My husband didn’t have his hiking boots ( I DID :) ) , and he was getting tired of carying that extra 30 pounds on him. Anyway it was great to get out of the house and to breath in that fresh air.

It happend more than a week ago, so today having that 80 F temperature outside I am not thinking about getting outside for a hiking… The furthest I’d like to go is to the swimming pool and back :)

Have a great day, everybody!

Garlock – the town of a few ruins

Everytime we would pass by this place I thought how cool it would be to stop, walk around and take some pictures. Almost all the time we hadn’t have much time to do so.

Coming back from Christmas at Jay’s parents he offered to stop. I was surprised he did that. Don’t know why. Maybe I got used to the thought that we will never stop here, and it’s gonna be one of those places that later on I’d think: “god damn it! I should’ve said something, and we should’ve stoped there” but it’s too late and almost forgotten.

So,
we stoped in the middle of nowhere, actually !!!

And there it is Garlock, California Registered Historical Landmark No. 671
“In 1896 Eugene Garlock constructed a stamp mill near this spot for the crushing of gold ore from the yellow aster mine on rand mountain. Known originally as cow wells by prospectors and freighters during the 1880′s and early 1890′s, the Town of Garlock continued to thrive until water was piped from here to Randsburg in 1898, and the Kramer-Randsburg rail line was completed in the same year”

Most of my pictures are photos of this one place. It was really cool – inside and outside.

Quick pick at the rest of the ruins around and we were ready to leave. I mean, I would’ve stayed there much longer, but I didn’t want to overstep Jay’s patience. I know that left alone he is as content playing with “almighty Droid” as I am taking my pictures! ;) but sometimes too much is too much :) (never too much time for talking pictures, though)

It’s a beautiful Fall this Winter

Walking back after meeting with Ellin and Myles I stoped for a seconds few :)
Couldn’t just past by the beautiful colors of Fall without taking a few shots.
I’ve spoken with my mom this morning, and it’s freezing cold in Poland. -15 Celsius today. -20 a couple days ago…

Just crazy!!! I love, love, love California!!!

My new models…, and the old ones…

I love photography, as if some of you didn’t know yet.
I love kids. How to not to love them. But there was a time when I thought I’ll be better withouth them. As a teenager I hated kids. ReAlLy!!! I think every normal developing teenager go through that stage in his/her life. Am I wrong… ? Only some of us has the unconditional love towards the kids from the day we were born… ;) Most of us needs to find this love sometime during our life. A few just can’t find it, and they don’t really care about looking for it. That’s ok too. This world don’t need more people that it already has.
But why am I talking about it?
Because I’ve decided to connect these two things.
Kids, and photography :)

Last Monday I spent a few hours with Miles and Ellin.
I’m so happy I had the opportunity to work with such a cute boy, and a very beautiful mom.

… but still, I couldn’t resist :

… while dad was babysitting for me I was all about Miles… How could I not be?

There is so many things that I had never cared about while photographing Ewelina. “Working” with your own kid is like baking for yourself or your loved one. If it doesn’t taste good I can alwasy throw it away, and start everything from the beginnig, or my loved one will eat it saying that it was ok, but… don’t do it anymore, please.
Not a big deal. Right?

It’s totally different when you have 2 hours to take pictures for somebody else. Than you go home, just to discover that half of your pictures are… hm… not quite good. There is no baking again, there will be no eating it because somebody loves you… ;) Oh Heavens!!!
Lucky me it wasn’t that bad…
but still…
… WHY DO THE BEST IDEAS ALWAYS COME EX POST FACTO???

At the Rainbow Park on Rainbow Drive

…hm… it’s almost like “the double rainbow”. right? ;)

My double rainbow loves to go to the parks and play.
Dad’s happy that daughter is growing so he can take her out and play a little bit more than before.
Daugther is happy because she is out of and

Ewelina is more interactive, loves to go out and just hang out wherever we leave her. She is looking around at other kids playing. It’s amazing how time is flying…
Sometimes I feel like she was born just a few days ago…
Sometimes like it’s been a year or more.
Strange.
When you’ve got a child you see it growing and not knowing when it’s 18th.
I’m so happy I’ve been taking pictures of her almost every day, and everywhere. The only thing it’s gonna last forever.
Someday when she is gone building her own life and her own family I’ll have my picures, and that little precious girl on them.
She’ll be always precious. And she’ll be always my little girl.

De Young, San Francisco

Our trip to San Francisco had started from visiting De Young museum in Golden Gate Park.

Next time if we go there we’ll spend much more time inside this elevator. It’s an awesome place for somebody who loves, loves, loves reflections, but at the same time it’s not for somebody who haven’t figured out white balance, and doesn’t want to use any other mode than manual… Grrrr. Next time I’ll be going up and down until I get at least one decent shot :-)

But… look at Ewelina’s face! She had a blast with us!

A few shots from the view point.

ah… and a shot of Joanna while capturing me and Ewelina . It looks like she’s happy with what she captured… :-)

… and of course reflections… the coolest room ever!

Streets of San Francisco

A few days ago me my little turtle, and Joanna went to the City. We had something like a “kind of plan” of what we want to do, and where we want to go.

This is link to the route we walked.

It’s not quite accurate, because I do not remember all those streets we’d turned onto… :-) Joanna should remember, she had the map.

For the first 4 miles we took MUNI bus. It was terrible. With the stroller, our camera’s bags, diaper’s bag, bus driver barely speaking English, and bus full of first grade kids… ufff… next time we need to find better transportation.

I’ll post pictures from “de young” in my next post.

These pictures are not quite in the right order…

the rest of mine pictures are do dupy, and not worth to show… :-/
that’s why we need another trip to the City… SOON!!!
