Cocoa Butter Coffee body lotion, once again.

Here I am… Again with my coffee body lotion. I love this lotion so much that I think I will never stop making it. The last few times I’ve used cocoa butter with it, and it’s even better that my “only coffee” lotions.

I can’t say I didn’t like my last creation – oatmeal cocoa butter honey milk body lotion. I just didn’t like it as much as my coffee lotion, and it was more time-consuming to make it.

This one is super easy and fast to make, and it smells heavenly!

Over a double bath melt together:

1/2 cup emulsifying wax (IT CAN NOT BE SUBSTITUTED WITH BEES WAX)

1/2 cup cocoa butter

1/2 cup oil (this time I used only olive oil)

(do not allow the mixture to boil)

brew some coffee

1 1/2 cup for the lotion and

1 cup to enjoy it yourself

When the oil-wax-cocoa butter mixture is melted mix it in a glass jar with 1 1/2 cup of hot coffee. Both liquids need to be hot.

Use a blender to do that if you don’t want to spent the next hour stirring the mixture every 5 minutes. It will cool down and thicken much faster but you will have more to clean. I always mix the lotion in the same jar in which I store it. It’s very convenient for me.

If you choose the way I make it (without blender) you need to stir it every few minutes because the coffee is separating from the rest of the mixture on the bottom of the jar…

…and it looks just like on the picture below:

When the mixture is almost cold you can add essential oils (or fragrance oils). For more coffee smell and caffeine properties you can add coffee essential oil. In my case I added about 15 drops of sweet orange, 15 drops of grapefruit essential oils and 10 drops amber rose fragrance oil (for more sweet smell).

in my lotions I never forget to add some vitamin E. Poke it with a sharp knife and squeeze the liquid out. Use as many as you wish.

Stir it well with a spoon and enjoy:

For those who don’t like coffee or coffee smell or just don’t want to use coffee (for another reason): you can brew 1 1/2 cups of green, mint, peppermint tea or just use plain hot water. In my previous lotions I’ve used fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. It worked great, too.

You can get creative and mix different liquids but do not use more than 1 1/2 cup of that mixture all together. The lotion won’t get creamy and thick enough. I’ve done that before :(

ah… and keep in the fridge!

* since I started making and using lotions with cocoa butter in them I noticed my stretching marks got smaller and almost invisible!!!

Homemade coffee body lotion

I’ve made this body lotion for a few times now, and it’s always great.

When I made it for the first time I added too much (for my taste) essential oils. The second time I didn’t add anything at all and I actually didn’t like it so much, as well. without the essential oils this lotions smells like mocha coffee. It’s actually very pleasant scent, but I like it to have a delicate citrus scent to it as well.

So this time, I think, I’ve found the perfect recipe for me.

So, this is how I made it:

1) 1/2 cup of emulsifying wax (you can get it from Mountain Rose Herbs.)

2) 1/2 cup of almond oil

You can use what ever oil you’ve got. The better quality of the oil, the better quality of your body lotion.

For example:

coconut oil – very moisturaizing and great for irritated and sensitive skin.

sunflower oil – is loaded with Vitamins A, D, and E. great for damaged and aged skin.

for more oils and their descriptions go here.

But you really don’t have to focus on that. Olive oil or sunflower oil will work just fine!

3) Over double bath melt the wax in oil. DO NOT MICROWAVE IT!!!

4) When the wax and olive oil are mixed well together so there isn’t any piece of wax floating on the oil pour it into a glass jar or glass bowl or whatever jar (it should be glass) you want to use for this purpose ( I use a jar after TOSTITOS salsa).

5)  add 1 1/2 cup of hot coffee. I made mine very strong (Hazelnut Creme, btw. Yumm! and smells sooo good)!

*According to Esthetician Jennifer Tanner from CancerLynx.com, when coffee is applied topically it redistributes fat cells and helps to prevent cellulite from forming. She goes on to say that it helps to get rid of varicose veins by shrinking and tightening your blood vessels.

6) Stir it well. Very well.

7) Don’t let the coffee to separate from the rest of the mixture. If you see something like on the picture below stir it again. Stir it very well. And after 2, 3 minutes stir it again, and again… and again… Until the mixture is thick. If you forget to do that and you let the mixture to separate don’t worry… You can heat it up a little, and start the process of stiring the mixture every couple of minutes again :-)

8) Sometime in the middle of the stirring process, when the mixture is not hot anymore add (or not) essential oils, or fragrance oils, or both. This is what I used today. 15 drops of grapefruit essential oil, and 5 of amber rose fragrance oil.

The difference between them is that the fragrance oil is mostly for the scent, while especial oils have therapeutic properties (and they smell nice, too). Before the decision what kind of essential oil you want to use for your lotion you have to check it out if it’s safe. Not all of them are safe to use on skin. So, just google it.

For example grapefruit essential oil helps to boost digestion, benefits the immune system by helping to clear the lymphatic system, helps with skin problems, and can be used for muscle stiffness, water retention and for bolstering the nervous system.

BUT

it can irritate the skin if exposed to strong sunlight after treatment.

9) At the same time open a few capsules of vitamin E and pour the liquid into your body lotion.

10) Ready to use!!!

or to play with :-)

* this lotion is not a miraculous protection from cellulite!!! If you don’t drink enough water every day, if you don’t exercise and eat a healthy diet this lotion won’t make you cellulite to disappear or it won’t prevent the cellulite to appear. As a woman who already had one child and is expecting another one in a close future I do have to admit I have cellulite and this lotion didn’t make it disappear. My cellulite hasn’t gotten any bigger since I started to use this lotion, though (and I’ve used it for about a year). If you want to fight cellulite you should try to use this lotion with coffee body scrubs and body wraps using coffee grounds and olive oil.

For even better recipe check out my post: Cocoa Butter Coffee Body Lotion. That lotion helped me to fight with stretch marks thanks to cocoa butter in it.

Happy mixing and using! I hope you’ll all enjoy it!

Homemade coffee body lotion

Who do not like coffee?!?!?
or at least the smell of fresh brewed coffee, or sweet cappuccino :-)

Who do not like body lotions?

Who would say “no” to both the “body lotion and fresh smell of coffee” in one ?

Hm… Ok, I know some people, but I think they are weird ;-)

This is my creation using a base of Hirono’s recipe

Ah… and my very original body lotion jar:

There is a small difference in my recipe…
Instead of only water I used 1 1/2 cups of fresh brewed coffee.
After you mix the oil, wax and coffee you shouldn’t leave it for a night because the water will separate from the rest of the body lotion, and you will get water on the bottom, and big chunky piece of oily something on the top. We don’t want that!

It’s better when you are able to stir the mixture every 5 minutes until it gets cold. That’s all what you need to make AMAZING COFFEE BODY LOTION.

I added a 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil, and 10 drops of sweet orange essential oil. You do not have to do that because this body lotion smells like cappuccino itself.
…with or without essential oils the body lotion is amazing!

CAN’T WAIT TO USE IT!!!
